Support for students in Bundaberg
The Deaf Lottery recently provided teaching staff in Bundaberg with the money to purchase essential equipment to support students with hearing loss in the Bundaberg region. The Fraser Coast Hearing Loss Support Group (formerly known as Better Hearing Australia Maryborough) also donated money to purchase the equipment.
The equipment purchases was a Phonak Digimaster Soundfield System for use in a classroom and a RogerX with touchscreen microphone for school staff to experience the use of a personal FM.
These items will be 'invaluable for students to be able to access clear speech in classrooms and ultimately improving their educational outcomes' Beth Goodsell and Kellie Mason, Advisory Visiting Teachers from Bundaberg told the Deaf Lottery team.
'Our greatest desire is that all schools will be able to purchase these systems to be used consistently for studnets with hering loss' Beth and Kellie said.
The purchase of the equipment will demonstrate to teaching staff the importance of using a student's fitted personal FM in noisy classrooms and over distance.
