Walk-in Service

Deaf Services Queensland Walk-in Service allows community members to come in and seek assistance from our specialist community workers regarding a wide range of life issues.

Our community workers can assist the Deaf community with:

Filling in forms.
Explaining and answering correspondence.
Dealing with complaints regarding service provision to the Deaf member (e.g. Hospitals not providing Auslan interpreters etc).
Ringing organisations or government departments (e.g. Police, Banks, Centrelink, etc).
Provide referrals to other services (e.g. counselors, interpreters, etc).

This is a free service provided where the Deaf community can simply walk in to our offices and discuss certain life matters in an open and confidential setting.

Walk-in hours are as below:

Moorooka 915 Ipswich Rd: Tuesday 9am – 12pm
Thursday 9am – 12pm
Friday 9am – 12pm
Cairns 224 Draper St: Tuesday 9am – 12pm
Thursday 2pm – 5pm
Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre, 9 George Street: 10am - 1pm second week on Fridays monthly
Townsville 1/263-269 Charters Towers Rd: Tuesday 9am – 12pm
Toowoomba 19A/28 Bell St: 10am–1pm first week on Wednesdays monthly
Maroochydore Centacare, 21 Cornmeal Pde: 10am-1pm first week on Fridays monthly
Maryborough 26 Wilson St: Every Monday 2.30pm-5.00pm (excluding public holidays)

Our community workers also provide current information to the Deaf community through information workshops and mail-outs.
