Youth Initiatives

Deaf Youth Club – This club is designed to decrease the sense of isolation that Deaf youth experience. It will provide an opportunity for Deaf and hard of hearing youth to form friendships, develop social skills and provide outlets for art and drama activities.  

Youth Camp – Similar to the objectives of the Deaf Youth Club, the camp experience is offered to all Deaf and hard of hearing youth throughout Queensland to reduce regional isolation and provide opportunities for sharing and understanding of youth needs.  

Youth Workshops – We need to conduct Workshops to provide important information to Deaf youth. Workshops will cover

• Personal Identity,
• Education in areas such as alcohol, drugs, sex.
• Self Advocacy,
• Family awareness
• Pathway success (career and education choices)
• Services awareness (community agencies, interpreter etc.)

Community Access Services
           
Production of a Baby Sign DVD to assist parents and care givers to communicate with babies and toddlers.  

Laptop computer for use in the community for Deafness Awareness Training.
