URGENT MEDIA RELEASE

WARNING OF DEAF COMMUNITY SCAM

30 June 2011

Arts Access Victoria has been alerted to information going around the deaf community via Facebook that says that the (ATOD) Australian Theatre of the Deaf is running a lottery with a prize of $100,000.

This is not true. This is a scam. There is no lottery. Someone is using the good name and reputation of the Australian Theatre of the Deaf to take advantage of members of the deaf community. The people behind this scam are not involved with the Australian Theatre of the Deaf or Arts Access Victoria – they simply want to take your money under false pretences.

We urge you to ignore this information.
Do not give any money to these people.
Do not give your name or other details, including your bank information.

If you have any information about this matter or if you have been a victim of this scam, please contact:
